Early in the evening police charged Sylvia Nicole Terrell, 26, of Athens, with Giving False Information to Police, Speeding, and Driving on a Suspended Drivers License. The arrest resulted from a traffic stop on Saturday, September 20, where Terrell was stopped for speeding on Harden Hill Road. She furnished information to police identifying herself as a different Athens woman. After the person listed on the traffic citation did not appear at Watkinsville Municipal Court on the date and time specified, police contacted her.  The woman said that she had not been in Watkinsville. She also told police that her cousin, Sylvia Terrell, had bragged about impersonating her, and that she had done it in the past. Police then contacted the owner of the 2001 Chevrolet Impala who said that on September 20th the car had been loaned to Sylvia Terrell. By looking at driver’s license photos, the police officer who issued the citation then identified Terrell as the driver of the car. That is when it was learned that Terrell’s license had been suspended by the State. A computer check also revealed that she is wanted on a Theft by Shoplifting Bench Warrant in Hart County. Terrell was booked into the Oconee County Jail.
