Secret Service Investigates MD Pair for Cloned Debit Cards

Another two arrests have been made in connection with local unauthorized debits from last month, the Oconee County Sheriff's Office reports.

More arrests have been made in connection with the rash of in March that removed over $40,000 from the bank accounts of Oconee County residents, authorites said.

This time, two individuals in Montgomery, Maryland were arrested, allegedly in possession of 33 cloned debit cards and credit cards, Chief Investigator Lt. David Kilpatrick said on Tuesday.Β  Although the Sheriff's Office has not released the names of those who were arrested, Kilpatrick said the pair has bonded out of jail.

'Alert store personnel' provided important tips to authorities that led to the arrests in both states, the Oconee County Sheriff's Office reported.

Various agencies are still working leads on the cases, Kilpatrick said, including the U.S. Secret Service and ATFΒ  along with the Oconee County Sheriff's Office and local authorities in Maryland and Virginia.
