Trailer Taken from Rossiter Court

Busted taillights, identity theft, and a stolen trail camera and among recent crimes reported in Oconee County, Ga. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

Stolen trailer: On Jan. 21, a resident of the 1000 block of Rossiter Court came to the Sheriff's Office to report the theft of a trailer from his yard.  The man believes the theft occurred within the last week.

Entered auto: Someone entered a 1991 Chevy Camaro parked on a property in the 1000 block of Natalie Court sometime between Jan. 16 and Jan. 22. A CD/DVD player that had been installed in the dash was taken.  The convertible top had openings that made it possible to enter without force.

Missing Items: Residents of a home in the 1000 block of Carriage Hill Road told deputies on Jan. 21 that they suspected that someone known to them had taken several items, including a digital camera and a dvd, from their home over the course of a week.  The person had been helping around the house between Jan. 16 and Jan 21 at the time the thefts occurred, they said.

Shoplifting: Deputies were dispatched to Walmart on Jan. 21 where a security guard told them a man concealed items and attempted to leave without paying for them.  The razor, blades and shaving cream were returned to the store.  Michael Jason Brown, 25, of Athens, was charged with theft by shoplifting.

DVDs Hidden: Two individuals were arrested at Walmart on Jan. 17. around 10:30 p.m. A security officer told deputies the pair attempted to steal 5 DVDs by concealing them in a diaper bag.  Miriam Suarez, 19, and Juan Manuel Salmeron, 25, both of Athens, were charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting.

ID Theft: On Jan. 18, a woman reported someone had made $4,000 worth of unauthorized charges on her credit card, changed her mailing address and email address.

Busted Tailights: A man reported he was in Home Depot on Jan. 19 when someone known to him broke both of the tail lights on his truck.  Witness statements were taken and further investigation is pending. Damage is estimated at $300.

Camera Taken: On Jan. 20, a resident of in the Oconee Crossing Subdivision on Pops Way told deputies someone had entered his property and removed an outdoor trail camera that had been mounted to a tree in the woods.  The camera, valued at $100, was last seen two weeks ago. The man also noticed ATV tire markings near the scene.

Fishy Activity: Deputies were called to Walmart on Jan. 20 around 10:40 a.m. where an employee had accused a man of having placed several items in his jacket while shopping in the outdoor/fishing area.  Tackle and fishing lures, valued at $51, were recovered. Anthony Leonard Wetherington, 17, of Jefferson, was charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting.

Shoplifting: Kohl's security on Jan. 20 reported that a man and a woman left the store without paying for over $1,000 worth of merchandise. The investigation is pending.
