One Minor Injury After 2-Car Accident in Watkinsville

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville police department. Arrests that are reported do not indicate a conviction.

In his weekly press release, Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending May 29.

  • Officers responded to a two-car traffic accident on Experiment Station Road near the Oconee County Library around 2:30 p.m. on May 24.  One person had a minor injury, O'Dillon said, and one of the drivers was cited with following too closely.
  • The line of heavy thunderstorms that passed through Watkinsville on May 26, O'Dillon said. Some minor damage to structures occurred, but no injuries and no traffic accidents were reported.
  • On May 27,  Deanna L. Denton, 25, of Colham Ferry Road, was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane, O'Dillon said.
  • Following a traffic stop on May 28, Elaine Harwood, 40, of Madison, was charged with driving on a suspended license, speeding, and expired tag, O'Dillon reported.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 33 calls within city limits between Monday, May 23 and Sunday, May 29, O'Dillon said.
