Oconee Sheriff's Office on the Lookout for Shoplifting Suspect

Deputies ended a foot chase empty-handed in the early afternoon outside of Walmart, but remain on the scene where authorities say a man stole a television.

The area around on Epps Bridge Parkway remains under patrol by deputies following an incident Wednesday morning where authorities say a man stole a television from the store around 10:45 a.m. and fled on foot.

The man dropped the TV near when he saw a deputy and ran into the nearby woods, reported Chief Deputy Lee Weems.

The suspect is described as a 6' tall, skinny, white male with long, stringy, dark hair wearing a Johnny Cash T-shirt and dark pants, he said.

Deputies pursued the suspect along with a K-9 unit, but stopped around 1 p.m when the rainfall became too heavy for the K-9 to track, Weems said.Β  However, patrol units remain on the scene and are on the lookout for the man who is believed to be hiding in the woods behind McDonalds, he said.
