Oconee Sheriff's Office Crime Report

A highlight of incidents reported during the week of April 21- April 28.

The following information was gathered from Oconee County Jail booking reports and incident reports:

  • Power tools and hand tools valued at over $5,000 were reported stolen from a work truck sometime between 10 p.m. on April 20 and 5 a.m. on April 21.  The work truck had been parked in a yard at 2140 Pete Dickens Road, reports stated.
  • A black 5x8 trailer with a folded gate valued at $700 was reported stolen from 131 N. Burson Avenue.  The theft allegedly took place between 8:30 p.m. on April 22 and 7:15 a.m. on April 23, according to reports.
  • Christopher M. Farmer, 28, of 432 Veterans Drive in Danielsville was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting on April 22.
  • On April 24, Toboris Kenta Mattox, 30, of 1229 June Drive in Decatur was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, giving a false name, and a tag light requirement.
  • Daniel George Newton, 53, of 541 Sycamore Street in Madison was arrested and charged with criminal trespass on April 25.
  • On April 27, Brandon Michael Taylor, 19, of 1000 Lakeside Drive in Athens was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting.
  • William Anthony Payne, 29, of 1421 Cemetery Road was booked at the Oconee County Jail on one charge of burglary on April 27.
  • Chris J. Benoit, 30, of 2670 Barnett Shoals Road was arrested and charged with simple battery and cruelty to children in the 3rd degree on April 28.
