UPDATE: ACC Police Report Stabbing Suspect Now in Custody

The multi-agency search comes to a close.

The assisted the Athens-Clarke County Police Department in the hunt for an aggravated assault suspect in the area of Stonehenge subdivision Wednesday. Both agencies sent out alerts via Nixle messaging.

The Athens-Banner Herald reported police said a man was being treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital after having been stabbed three times in the woods. According to the ACCPD, the incident took place near Altar Stone Drive and Sarsen Circle just before 10 a.m.

Police described the suspect as a 6'00" tall black male wearing a camouflage jacket and a ball cap.Β  Investigators later told the ABH a witness identified the suspect as 19-year-old Devante Baker of Colbert.

Around 2:30 p.m., the ACCPD sent out a notification that they had taken Baker into custody.

During the search, Oconee deputies set up a perimeter on the county line.
