Oconee Officials Investigate Suspected Meth House

Response to a burn patient late Thursday led law enforcement to the suspected lab.

Oconee County law enforcement officials were at an East Haven Trail residence  Friday investigating a suspected methamphetamine lab, according to an email to media from Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Lee Weems.

About 11 p.m. Thursday, a helicopter landed at Malcom Bridge Elementary School to transport a burn patient, Weems said. Investigators later determined the man had likely been injured while cooking meth.

A hazardous materials team was among the units called to the East Haven Trail residence, Weems said.
