Oconee Authorities Hunt Armed Robbery Suspect

An employee of Blockbuster Video on Experiment Station Road was robbed at gunpoint Saturday morning, authorities report.

Update 5:15 p.m.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office reported that the suspect may have fled the scene in a dark green Honda Civic with a cracked windshield driven by a white female with light brown hair.

Oconee County authorities are searching for a man they believe robbed an employee of , located at 2061 Experiment Station Road in the Butler's Crossing shopping plaza, around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

On the way to make a bank deposit, the store employee was approached by a man in the parking lot who pulled a gun and demanded the money bag, said Chief Deputy Lee Weems of the .Β  The employee handed over the bag and the man took off behind the blockbuster building, he said, adding no one was injured.

A K-9 unit is assisting in the search and deputies have set up a perimeter around the area, Weems said.

"Right now it's a needle in a haystack," he said. "We're early on in the investigation, trying to run down leads."

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid 20s with black hair and a sunken face last seen wearing a red shirt with writing on it an khaki pants, according to a series of Nixle alerts.
