No One Injured When Mustang Left Road During Heavy Rain Shower

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville, Ga. police department.

A 2000 Ford Mustang left the roadway Sunday at 7:45 p.m. during a heavy rain shower before coming to rest in the ditch off VFW Drive near Mimosa Drive, according to Watkinsville Police. The driver was not injured and the car only suffered minor damage.

In a news release, Police Chief Lee O'Dillon also noted the following incidents:

  • Wednesday afternoon police responded to Whitehall Road at Calls Creek Drive where a 2000 Ford Taurus had struck the back of a 2012 Ford Escape.  Neither driver was injured but both vehicles suffered heavy damage. A 24-year-old Greene County woman was charged with following too closely.
  • Saturday evening police were called to a domestic situation at a Camden Park Drive address.  An estranged husband was angry over a child visitation issue. The man left the property.
  • Sunday evening a 2008 Pontiac Vibe bumped a parked 2011 Nissan Altima on Camden Court, off VFW Drive.  No one was injured and very minor damage was listed.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 28 calls within city limits between Dec. 10- 16, 2012.
