News Nearby: Body Found in Well Could be that of Missing Franklin County Woman
An autopsy will determine if the remains are those of Bonny Anne Cooner, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.
Authorities believe they have recovered the remains of a Franklin County woman in a well close to her home in Canon. Bonny Anne Cooner, 33, was said to have ties to Athens when her family reported her missing almost two weeks ago.
According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, law enforcement officials have arrested Cooner's live-in boyfriend, Brent Shubert, in connection with her disappearance. He shared a house with Cooner and her 12-year-old son.
Shubert, 42, was picked up in Anderson County, S.C., and has been charged with murder, aggravated assault and concealing a death, the story says. The remains are going to be excavated on Sunday and taken to the State Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.
