Monroe Murder Suspect Considered Armed and Dangerous

The Monroe Police Department confirms a man was fatally shot in the early hours of Thursday morning. An arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect.

Monroe Police Chief Keith Glass confirmed Thursday that the police department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened on South Broad Street in Monroe Wednesday night. Glass said the shooting is considered a homicide.

"At approximately 0230 MPD responded to an unknown problem at 1120 South Broad St, upon arrival Officers found a white male that was unresponsive. MPD Investigators and the GBI were notified," Glass said. "The Victim was identified as 34-year-old white male, Curtis Dewayne Barfield, of Monroe. Based on information and evidence obtained thus far an arrest warrant for Murder has been taken on James Eric Middlebrooks 25 year old white male."

Glass said Middlebrooks should be consider armed and dangerous and anyone having contact with Middlebrooks should call 911. Anyone having information concerning Middlebrooks or this incident please contact Capt S. Treadwell @ 770-266-5182  or 678-392-6440.
