Man Killed By Train in Clarke County Had Watkinsville ID

The Athens Banner-Herald reports the incident occurred late Tuesday afternoon on the CSX railroad tracks near Cleveland Road.

An investigation is underway into the death of a man who was struck and killed by a train Tuesday evening, Athens-Clarke police told the Athens Banner-Herald Wednesday.

According to the newspaper's article, William Thomas, 51, was run over around 5:30 p.m. on the CSX railroad tracks in the vicinity of Cleveland Road.

Thomas had an identification that listed a Watkinsville address, but also had ties to family member's residence close to the accident site in Clarke County, according to the article.
