K-9 Unit Deployed in Search for Burglary Suspect

Oconee County Sheriff's Office and Barrow County Sheriff's Office deputies are looking for a burglary suspect in the area of Sikes Road, authorities say.

UPDATE:Β  Around 11:45 p.m. on Friday, Oconee County Sheriff's Office reported that Timothy John Dunagan, 45, of Statham had been taken into custody after surrendering to authorities.

No other details surrounding the incident were yet available.

At 11:15 p.m., authorities released a photo of a man they say is the burglary suspect wanted from an incident Friday afternoon.

Timothy John Dunagan, 45, of Statham is believed to be hiding in Statham, the Oconee County Sheriff's Office reported.

The photo was taken last year, authorities said, adding that on Friday the suspect had a beard.

If you have any information about Dunagan's whereabouts, you are asked to contact law enforcement.

Statham Police and the Georgia State Patrol have joined Oconee County and Barrow County deputies in the search.

As of 7 p.m., the K-9 unit remained in pursuit of the suspect, who was last seen across Atlanta Highway near Statham, according to a post on the Oconee County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.Β 

A Georgia State Patrol helicopter has also been tracking the man, authorities said.

Two neighboring law enforcement agencies are searching for a burglary suspect in the area of Sikes Road, authorities said.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6'1" and 215 lbs wearing a sleeveless dark shirt and tan shorts, authorities said.

and Barrow County Sheriff's Office deputies are scouting the area and shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday, a K-9 unit was deployed to assist in the search, authorities said.
