Two Checked for Smoke Inhalation After Fire Consumes House

The fire destroyed the Hog Mountain Road home about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, authorities report.

The house at 2320 Hog Mountain Road near Capital Avenue is being described as "a total loss" after it was consumed by fire Sunday night.

Three engines, Ladder 1, three rescue trucks, an air trailer, and National EMS were on scene with 25 firefighters and first responders about 11:45 p.m., Fire Chief Bruce Thaxton said.Β  When they arrived, the house was already fully involved.

"Two occupants were sent to the hospital to be checked out due to smoke inhalation and released," Thaxton said.

The cause of the fire is unknown, he said.

Thaxton said fire trucks and personnel left the scene around 2:45 a.m. and all fire equipment was cleaned, hose re-loaded, trucks back in fire stations around 3:45 a.m.
