Home Invasion Update: Two Booked Into Oconee Jail on Drug Charges

Matthew Moore, 27, and Sara Barfield, 30, both of Alpine Court, surrendered to authorities Thursday, Oconee County's chief deputy reports.

Two suspected drug dealers from Oconee County were booked into the Oconee County Jail Thursday, July 21.

Chief Deputy Lee Weems said Matthew Moore, 27, and Sara Barfield, 30, both of an Alpine Court residence, turned themselves in to the jail. They are charged with one count each of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Warrants were issued for their arrest on July 19, one day after their by an Athens man in an attempted armed robbery.Β  Deputies seized around $5,500 along with several pounds of suspected marijuana and said the couple was likely targeted because of drugs.

That night Mark Anthony Sims was arrested and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and other related charges.

A warrant was issued for Roderick Tavarus Walter of Athens, who authorities believe was the getaway driver. He escaped on foot Monday but by Athens-Clarke County Police on Wednesday, July 20. Walter was charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery. Β
