Georgia State Patrol troopers will be conducting high visibility patrols during the busy 102-hour July 4th holiday travel period, which ends on Sunday, June 7.

Operation Zero Tolerance is aimed at removing impaired drivers from the road.

During this time of year, troopers report that impaired driving is one of the leading contributing factors in a majority of the fatal traffic crashes that they investigate, according to a GSP news release.

β€œTroopers and officers will not hesitate to arrest an impaired driver and tow their vehicle,” said Colonel Mark McDonough, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

Those who plan to consume alcohol should choose a designated driver before the celebration begins, and anyone who suspects a driver is impaired is asked to notify law enforcement.
