DUI Suspect Carried Cash and Marijuana, Sheriff's Deputies Say

Bolton gave authorities a Lawrenceville address but lived in Athens two years ago.

On Friday night, Leshaddrick Reshad Bolton, 32, drove away from a car wreck and tried to outrun an law enforcement official before he was shot with a stun gun. As it turns out, authorities said Bolton had nearly 2 pounds of marijuana and more than $8,000 in cash on him, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald.

Friday, authorities arrested Bolton on charges of obstruction and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Charges from the Georgia State Patrol include DUI, driving with a suspended license, failing to obey a traffic device and leaving the scene of an accident, according to the ABH story.

The accident happened close to 9pm on Epps Bridge Parkway at the entrance ramp to the Athens Perimeter, the story says, when Bolton's BMW hit a Honda Civic driven by a teenager from Monroe. He drove away from the accident and an Oconee County deputy spotted him in the Home Depot parking lot, driving his car despite its having a flat tire.

Rather than stop when the deputy turned on blue lights, Bolton fled onto Jennings Mill Parkway, the story says. He ran on foot after the BMW stopped working, got under a tree, and refused to come out until he was hit in the chest by a stun gun.

The deputies who searched Bolton's pockets found cash, the story says. And his care contained a plastic bag of marijuana and more cash, and a second plastic bag of marijuana.
