Crime Report: Man Smears Food in Mother's Face

The following information was gathered from Oconee County Sheriff's Office reports and highlights incidents reported Jan. 3- Jan. 8.

 A 35-year-old man faces two counts of simple assault and one count of interference with a 911 call after he reportedly got into an argument with his mother.  It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 at a Lakeside Drive residence.

According to an incident report at the , the man became angry when his mother would not allow one of his friends to stay at the home.  The mother told deputies her son took food off of her plate and smeared it in her face.  When his 14-year-old sister tried to intervene, the man allegedly pushed her.  The sister tried to call 911, but says her brother ripped the phone cord from the wall and took her cell phone before leaving.

Neither of the two women was injured during the altercation.

Here is a summary of other incidents from Jan. 3- Jan. 8.:

Shoplifting: A Jefferson woman was taken into custody at on Jan. 8 after attempting to steal several items of clothing. She was charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting.

Terroristic Threats and Acts: A woman reported her brother-in-law was drinking with friends on Jan. 8 and approached her and threatened her while in the Pinewood Estates South mobile home park.  Deputies advised the woman about the process to obtain a temporary protective order.

Shoplifting: An 18-year-old Bogart man was charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting after loss prevention officers at Walmart said he tried to conceal items and leave the store without paying for them on Jan. 7.

Argument Between Juveniles: On Jan. 6, deputies were called to the Willowynd subdivision where a parent reported his son had been playing with another boy-- with whom they'd apparently had problems with before-- and the 6-year-old boy pulled out a pocketknife and told the man's son he was going to kill him.

Deputies spoke with the mother of the 6-year-old boy and told her about the allegations. She did not believe that is what happened.

They also spoke with the boy who said he had been playing and ran home after he saw some other boys in the woods with air soft guns. The boy denied threatening the other child with a knife or verbally, but admitted a pocketknife had been given to him for Christmas.

Deputies advised both parents that if the children are unable to get along, the parents need to find a way to keep them apart.

Theft by Taking: A woman reported her 1995 Honda Accord, which had been parked in front of her residence at Pinewood Estates South mobile home park at 2 a.m. on Jan. 6, was missing.  She discovered the theft at 7 a.m. The car is missing a right parking light.

Criminal Damage: A resident of the 1000 block of Kings Mill Run reported a front window to her home had been broken sometime between 7 and 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 6.

Both the upper and lower panes were broken but the blinds were in tact and glass was still in the bottom of the frame.  No entry was made into the residence.

Terroristic Threats and Acts: On Jan. 6, a man reported his neighbor on Maple Lane has been harassing him and threatening to kill him because the man is dating the neighbor's mother.  Deputies advised the woman about the process to obtain a temporary protective order.

Burglary: , authorities reported. Two juveniles were charged.

Criminal Trespass: On Jan. 4, a resident discovered a back bedroom window of her 1000-block Moreland Way residence was broken.  There were no other signs of forced entry.

Burglary: On Jan. 4, a man reported a deer-hunting rifle, medications and a metal can with change had been taken from his home in the 1800 block of Aycock Road.

Forgery: An Oconee County man told deputies his bank notified him that money from his account was wired to an unknown account on Jan. 3. According to the man, the bank told him that his signature was on the request but he insists he did not signed any such documents.

Aggravated Stalking: A woman reported her ex-fiancé had been contacting her via text messaging and attempting to contact her through Facebook from Dec. 30 - Jan. 3.  She said there is a temporary protect order that was put in place in November 2011 and it forbids contact in any form.

Suspicious Person: Deputies responded to a call about a suspicious person at the Epps Bridge on Jan. 3 around 10 p.m.  They found a woman, Ashley Skinner, 26, of N. Bluff Road, Athens, who had warrants in her name for violations of probation in Barrow and Jackson counties.  She was housed at the Oconee County Jail to await transport.
