Crime Report: Foreclosed Home Stripped of Parts and Wine Concealed in Pants

The following information was gathered from Oconee County Sheriff's Office reports and highlights incidents reported April 2-9.

Stolen ATV: A resident of Jefferson Avenue reported a camouflage painted ATV was stolen from his property sometime between 4 p.m. on April 8 and 9 a.m. on April 9.

Class Ring Taken: An Oconee County High School class ring valued at $585 was reported missing from a Dials Mill Road home on April 9.  The ring is described as 14-carat white gold with a blue starburst stone.  Under the stone there is the image of a deer and, on either side of the ring, there is a rebel flag and a warrior with a spear.  The ring is inscribed with the victim's name.  The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between April 1 and April 9.

Warrant Arrest: A man standing and holding a cardboard sign in the area of Ga. Highway 316 and the Oconee Connector around 8:45 a.m. April 9 told a deputy he was just trying to get some money for cigarettes.  When the deputy ran the man's identification, he learned the man was wanted on warrant for  probation violation out of Clayton County.  Ronnie Lee Pattillo was arrested and transported to the Oconee County Jail awaiting pickup from Clayton County.

Party Bust:

Shoplifting: A man was arrested at on April 6 after loss prevention officers told deputies he tried to conceal a bottle of wine in his pants and walk out of the store without paying for it. The 19-year-old Bethlehem man was charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting.

Shoplifting: Loss prevention officers at Wal-mart called the on April 6 after they say they observed a man hiding several items in a plastic container and walking out of the store.  The 31-year-old Watkinsville man was charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting.

Shoplifting: Three unknown men reportedly took numerous packages of disposable razors and tooth whitening strips valued at more than $3,000 from Wal-mart sometime between 10:50 and 11:24 p.m. on April 4. The theft was reported on April 6.

Harassing Communication: A female employee of Golden Pantry at 5171 Macon Highway told deputies on April 6 that for three years a man has been coming to the store every morning, calling her baby and hugging her.  It was the first time the woman reported the incident, though she says her co-workers and supervisor are aware of the situation.  Deputies advised the woman to call the next time the man shows up at the business so that he may be identified.

Burglary: A 1000- block residence on Oconee Crossing Circle owned by a bank due to foreclosure was reported burglarized on April 6.  The home was stripped of all kitchen appliances, light fixtures, and cabinets.  There were no signs of forced entry.

Theft of Services: An employee of Oconee County Water Department reported two county water lines were illegally tapped on Clubhouse Lane and water was stolen between April 2 and April 6.

Shoplifting: On April 5, Wal-mart loss prevention officers told deputies two women had been roaming the store, concealing children's clothing items and fishing lures.  One of the women appeared to act as the lookout while the other took the items. They were both issued criminal trespass warning notices and advised not to return to any Wal-mart. The women, 24 and 46, were then booked into the jail on misdemeanor theft by shoplifting charges.

Identity Theft:  On April 3, an Oconee County woman reported someone used her social security number to obtain resources from the Department of Family and Children Services.

Theft of Saw: A Stihl concrete pipe saw was left on the side of the road by workers near Virgil Langford Road and the Oconee Connector on March 29 about noon.  On April 2 around 6 p.m., the saw was no longer there.

Mailbox Struck: On April 3, a resident of the 3500 block of Colham Ferry Road reported a vehicle struck her mailbox sometime between 10 p.m. on March 29 and 2 p.m. on March 30.  A side mirror fell off of the vehicle.

Shoplifting: A 23-year-old Athens woman was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting on April 2 when loss prevention officers at Wal-mart said she concealed lotion and several makeup items in her purse and attempted to leave without paying for them. The items were collectively valued at about $50.

Harassment: On April 2, an Oconee County woman reported her ex-boyfriend had been emailing her employer on multiple occasions and made false allegations against her.  There is currently a temporary protective order in place prohibiting contact and the victim said she believes the ex-boyfriend is in violation of the order.
