Covington Man Captured After Fleeing From Accident

Authorities took William Henry "Busta" Crutchfield, Jr. into custody in the Kroger shopping center on Epps Bridge Road Tuesday around 4:30 p.m.

A Covington man faces charges after crashing a vehicle on the bridge over the 10 Loop on Epps Bridge Road around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities said. No one was injured in the accident.

Witnesses stated the man ran from the scene in the direction of Waffle House, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office

Deputies located the suspect in the Kroger shopping center where he surrendered without incident a short time later, the release stated.  

William Henry "Busta" Crutchfield, Jr., 24, of Covington was charged with hit and run, driving while license suspended and following too closely.  There was also an active warrant in his name out of Newton County stemming from a child support case.

Also arrested was a passenger, Tiffany Marie Smith, 28, of Hickman Drive in Athens, on charges of obstruction, giving false information and a safety belt violaion. Smith was booked into the jail in the early morning hours of Dec. 21, according to booking reports.
