Copper Wire Reportedly Concealed in Purse

A 40-year-old woman was charged Friday with shoplifting from Lowes' on Epps Bridge Parkway in Oconee County, Ga.

Oconee County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Lowe's Home Improvement on Friday afternoon where two accused shoplifters had been taken into custody.

A loss prevention employee said he watched a man and woman on surveillance cameras in the electrical department.Β  He told deputies he saw the man looking around the area watching over people while the woman concealed two 100-foot rolls of copper wire in her purse.

Rebecca Davidson, 40, homeless, was charged with theft by shoplifting.Β  Authorities say she also has outstanding warrants in her name in two other counties. She was released from the Oconee County Jail on a $1,000 bond on Sept. 30.

Lowe's chose not to prosecute the man. The wire, valued at $158, was returned to the store.
