Authorities investigated a bomb threat in a parking lot near on Monroe Highway just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to an advisory from the .
Around 2 p.m., officials advised that the situation was all clear.
A man had called authorities and said he believed there was an explosive device in his truck, Chief Deputy Lee Weems explained, but nothing was found.
"We believe this was a false alarm with no intent to terrify," he said. "The individual appeared confused."
A family member took the man to a local hospital for evaluations, Weems said.
Fire and rescue units were staged and the University of Georgia Police Bomb Squad was placed on standby as precautionary measures, he said.
No businesses were evacuated during the investigation, Weems noted.
