Authorities Link Man Charged With Loitering to Entered Auto

When Oconee County deputies spotted an unattended orange Chevy Avalanche in the Oconee Crossing area around 3 a.m. Tuesday and then saw a 27-year-old man walking nearby on Corporate Drive, they say they had suspicions something wasn't right.

Chief Deputy Lee Weems says patrol deputies were aware of multiple reports of entering autos so they questioned the man about where he had been.

The man initially told the deputies that he was coming from a friend's house, but he could not provide a name or address of the friend, Weems said, and residents said they didn't know the man.

Deputies took Antonio Littlejohn of Cleveland Road into custody and charged him with loitering and prowling.

Later that day, a resident of Crossing Road reported a vehicle had been entered.  Investigators were already in the process of obtaining a warrant to search the Avalanche, Weems explained.  When they did, they found some of the missing items from the enter auto report inside, establishing a direct link to Littlejohn, he said. Littlejohn was then charged with entering auto.

Weems said the same Avalanche had been stopped previously by deputies and Littlejohn was a passenger at that time.  No arrests were made during that traffic stop.

Investigators are examining other reports of entering autos in the area to see if they may also be linked to Littlejohn in some way, he said.

"We have a name and a starting point, and we can start working backwards," Weems said.

He also said some items have been recovered that have not yet been reported stolen.
