While a thief was successful in weaseling $200 worth of toilet flush handles out of some Oconee County McDonald's bathrooms on Dec. 22, a similar attempt three days later ended differently.
Management reported to Sheriff's deputies on Dec. 26 that someone had attempted to remove toilet plumbing collars, rings and pipes from the women's restroom at the location on Experiment Station Road.
It is believed that the attempted theft occurred sometime between noon and 12:15 p.m., according to an incident report. A customer notified employees after finding leaky pipes.
Maintenance workers were able to tighten the pipe couplings.
