Attempted Fuel Theft at Oconee Construction Site Investigated

Someone tampered with a lock on a piece of heavy equipment.

An Oconee County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to the construction sites across from Sims Crossing Subdivision on Ga. Highway 53 on Sept. 24.Β 

A man reported someone had tried to steal fuel from a piece of heavy equipment sometime between 6 p.m. on Sept. 22 and 8 a.m. that morning.Β  A lock on the fuel tank appeared to have been tampered with but there was no significant damage nor items missing from the work site.Β 

Someone had left several items at the scene, however, but they weren't detailed in the abstract of the deputy's report.
