Athens Clarke County Police Find Body of UGA Student in Athens

Greene had been missing since November 18th.

The body of Rebecca Elaine Greene, 22, of Brunswick, Georgia, was found this morning in a creek on The Plaza in Athens, Georgia. Greene is a University of Georgia student. The last contact anyone had with her was on Monday evening around 5:30 p.m. 

Greene’s body was found by an Athens-Clarke County police officer searching the area of The Plaza where Greene’s phone was last detected. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) assist with the investigation into Green’s death. University of Georgia Police is also assisting with the investigation.

Greene’s body will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur where an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.
