Arrestee Asks Permission to Urinate in Back of Police Car and Other Weird News

Here are some strange activities that police encountered in Northeast Georgia recently.

Police hear the darndest things: An Athens man pulled over for suspicion of DUI in Barrow County refused to perform a field sobriety test, nor give a breath sample. "What’s the use, I'm already arrested," the man reportedly told deputies. He also asked if he could "pee in the back seat and was advised if he did he would wash it out,” according to the arrest report.

Driving test cheater fails: A Sandy Springs man allegedly altered the grade on the state’s driving exam taken by another applicant in Cobb County. He reportedly changed a 10 to a 90 and wrote “pass” on the exam before handing it to a Georgia Department of Driver Services employee. His criminal charges included concealing facts on a government document, a felony.

Look what I did: The driver who slammed his BMW into the front of a Lithonia house posted photos of the accident online with the words, "Crashed my E30 like a tool." He also noted he lost control after hitting a speed bump, but was “totally not speeding.”

Good choice for a contractor: Brazen burglars broke into a Sandy Springs-area house while a contracting crew was working in the backyard. It ended up being a stupid criminal move. A crew member heard a loud boom and checked it out. He watched a man run from the side door of the house, jump into an SUV with another man and drive away. The crew member called police, then identified the suspects when they were stopped about a half-hour later.

Oops, I shot myself, part II: There seems to be an epidemic of people accidentally shooting themselves in Oconee County. Three days after a man at St. Mary's Hospital said he shot himself in the leg, another man showed up at the same hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand. He told deputies the gun went off after he cleaned it.

Was “Up in Smoke” playing? A Lawrenceville woman is accused of repeatedly ramming her vehicle into the car of her child’s father outside a movie theater in Suwanee. She told police they argued at the theater, but denied the accusation. The man said the woman was waiting for him at the movie house, pursued his car, and hit it two or three times. The investigating officer wrote in the incident report that he smelled pot in the woman’s car and found a baggie with green leafy material. She was arrested on drug and reckless driving charges.

Wrath of the landlord: With the help of two daughters, an Athens man reacted to an ongoing dispute with a tenant at a duplex by trying to trap the tenant inside the home. The trio chained together a log and a stump in front of the front door. Police had to tow the barricade away.

Price-code frauder: A man was charged with shoplifting at a Johns Creek Walgreen’s after he allegedly tried to switch out the price codes on some expensive merchandise to save some money.
