Ambulance Now At Fire Station 24/7

To improve response time in the western part of Oconee County, a National EMS ambulance is now positioned at Barber Creek Fire Station 24 hours a day.

In order to improve response time, one of two National EMS ambulances in Oconee County is now positioned around the clock at a Barber Creek Station 8, located along the Oconee Connector.

Since 2009, the ambulance had been located at the fire station for 12 hours a day.  It is now there for the full 24 hours each day.

“The decision to locate the ambulance at the Fire Station was based on the need to improve response time to the emergency calls in the western part of Oconee County,” Chief Bruce Thaxton said in a released statement. “Our department has a positive working relationship with National EMS and is proud to be able to have an ambulance staffed at the station for 24 hours a day to ensure the best possible coverage to our citizens.”
