Academy Graduates Sworn in as Deputy Sheriffs

One has been assisted to the Patrol Division and the other will work in the Jail Division.

 

After graduating from the Academy, two men already working with the were sworn in as deputies by Sheriff Scott Berry last Friday, according to a news release.

Deputy Mark Smith has served as a Communications Officer in E-911 since January of 2010. He will be reassigned to the Patrol Division. Smith is also retired from the United States Navy and serves as a Medical First Responder with Oconee County Fire Rescue.

Deputy Dewayne Powers has served in the Jail Division since November of 2010. He will continue to work in the Jail Division. As a sworn deputy, he will now be able to make prisoner transports and handle other assignments.
