Market Displays an Abundance Perfect for Back-to-School
By Elizabeth Poland
We have again arrived at that fateful time of year when the summer must close, and we must finally return to school. Welcomed by many and feared by others, this time of year is full of hectic shopping days preparing for a year of learning. As everyone's schedules steadily increase, so must one's dedication to maintaining a healthy diet full of fresh and nutritious foods.
This past week's market was our 4th Saturday Children's Activity in which we focused on building healthy snacks perfect for school time. The kids enjoyed fresh fruit and yogurt parfaits, vegetables and coloring activities highlighting what foods to grab when they are looking for a snack.
The market will always be the prime event to grab all the snacks needed to keep our kids healthy and functional in their ever-busy schedules, but the market is also an opportunity to maintain family time each week despite other chaos.
Every Saturday morning or Tuesday afternoon, the whole family can take a trip to the market and pick our their favorite goodies to enjoy a family meal everyone contributed to.
Join our market this week to hear William James' live acoustic performance. To check him out before Saturday, follow this link. The market will, as always, have complimentary coffee and water for the guests.
Also be sure to check out this week's featured vendor: Covenant Valley Farm & Gifts to learn about how this family-run, self-sufficient farm brings the best honey and sense of community to the market.
The market will be at the Courthouse in Downtown Watkinsville on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and at the Watkinsville First Christian Church on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
