OCHS Boys Complete Perfect Regular Season in Region 8-AAA
ELBERTON - The Oconee County Warriors travelled to Elbert County Tuesday, where they swept both the girls' and boys' team matches. The boys breezed to a 5-0 shutout win over the host Blue Devils, while the Lady Warriors also won, edging the Lady Blue Devils 3-2. Lady Warriors' number one singles player, Jordan England, coasted to a 6-0, 6-3 win; Katy Kane also won, recording yet another shutout, winning 6-0, 6-0 at two singles. Meanwhile, in doubles, the number two duo of Ivy Do and Megan Morris clinched for the Lady Warriors, with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 Will McDonald playing at one singles, won 6-0, 6-1, Number two man Drew Horsley blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 and Mitchell Graves at three singles won 7-5, 6-7, 10-8. In doubles, the number one doubles team of Dan Madden and Hunter Pritchard won 6-3, 6-1, while the number two doubles combo of Zach Miner and Chandler Shields completed the sweep with a shutout of their Blue Devils opponents 6-0, 6-0. The win completed the regular season region slate for the boys, while the girls are scheduled to finish tomorrow vs East Jackson, where they held a decided advantage prior to the match being suspended due to rain earlier this month The Warrior men finish the regular season undefeated in 8-AAA region competition with a 7-0 record. Their overall record stands at 11-5 for the season. The Lady Warriors are now 5-1 in region and 8-7 overall. The Warriors travel to Athens Academy on Thursday, April 11th for the final regular season match, in a non-region match, prior to the region tournament.
