Newly Expanded Classic Center Hosts the Annual Athens Home and Garden Show

It's time for the Athens Area Home and Garden Show. See what's in store at this annual event, sponsored by the Athens Area Homebuilder's Association.

If you have not had the opportunity to see the new expansion of the Classic Center Exhibit Hall in downtown Athens, this week-end is your chance. The Athens Home and Garden Show, sponsored by the Athens Area Homebuilder's Association is this week-end February 23rd from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and February 24th from noon until 5:00 pm. The show will feature remodeling, landscaping, decorating, cooking demonstrations and educational seminars. While Mom and Dad take in all the latest, tools, techniques and experts, children can enjoy the "Kids Corner" featuring kids clinics, pottery making, coloring, face tattoos and fun balloon animals.

Here is a schedule of what you can expect to see and experience:



Saturday, February 23rd 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

  • 11:00 am-12:00 pm Ted Stephens, Rare and unusual plant material.
  • 1:00 pm-2:00 pm Allen Armitage, Tests new varieties from around the world introducing scores of new plants now found in many southern gardens.
  • 2:15 pm-3:15 pm Clint Garner, Expert designer and installer of water-efficient irrigation systems of all sizes.
  • 3:30 pm-4:30 pm Matthew Chappell, When a grower needs help, they call Dr. Chappell.

 

Sunday, February 24th 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm

  • 1:00 pm-1:45 pm Vince Dooley, Avid gardener sporting one of the finest collections of plants by a private individual in the Southeast.

  • 3:00 pm-3:45 pm John Reuter, Focus on breeding and researching exciting new varieties of woody ornaments and perennials for the Southeast.
