More Than Just Books Offered at the Oconee County Library

Although the Oconee County Library offers a great selection of books to be checked out, locals find even more to enjoy at the library!
Adults can learn more about their family history through Genealogy classes and improve their technology skills through computer classes, both of which are offered year-round.  This July, adults can attend informative sessions on topics from food dehydration to composting.
Throughout the year, families may check out Georgia State Park and Historical Sites passes to receive free admission and parking.  In addition, families have the opportunity to get a voucher for two adults and two children to Zoo Atlanta by watching the Zoo Atlanta Family Pass DVD at the library.
Young Adults (ages 11-18) enjoy many activities like watching movies and participating in the Teen Advisory Board, which helps plan events for teens. This July, the Young Adult department will offer a learn to knit class, host a Paint Party, have an Improv & Charades Night, and much more.
In the Children's Section, in addition to children's game computers and various toys, families will find educational games and a literacy center where they can read a book and then participate in a related activity.  Miss Jessie hosts Storytime on Tuesday mornings at 10 and 11 am during the summer.  This July, families can bring their lunch and watch a movie at the library, attend a Storytelling Concert or a puppet show, drop in on Thursdays for Crafternoon activities, and much more!  Star Wars characters will visit the Children's Section again this summer, as well.  Children also enjoy the chance to read to Kringle, our visiting golden retriever, through our Read to Rover program.

No matter your age or interest, the library has plenty to offer you.  All ages can get involved in the 2013 summer reading program "Dig into Reading" by visiting the Oconee County Library today.
