Planner: An Artful Weekend

Here is our pick of activities going on in or around Oconee County this weekend.

Where/When: Friday, June 1 in front of beginning at 6 p.m.

Why Go: To welcome summer with the celebration of the end of school.  There will be numerous kids activities, free popcorn and more.

Where/When: Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Oconee County Cultural Arts Foundation from 6-8 p.m.

Why Go: To attend the Opening Reception for the annual exhibit, which features at least one work of art from every OCAF member that chooses to participate. The exhibit will be on display through June 20, 2012.

Where/When: Friday and Saturday, June 1-2 at 7 p.m. at Eagle Tavern

Why Go: To hear tales of hauntings, local legends and Watkinsville history, led by North Georgia Tours. Register online.

Where/When: Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the

Why Go: To hear artist Peter Loose talk about his works. The bird art will be on display through July 11.

Where/When: Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3 at 1171 Freeman Creek Road in Farmington

Why Go: To see a collection of gas fired pottery and herbal soaps and botanical skincare products and support local artists.
