The Hard Labor Creek Regional Reservoir Management Board, at its meeting in November, appointed a committee to start planning for the recreational use of the nearly 1,400-acre lake under construction in southeast Walton County.

The three-member committee is being asked to draft a preliminary plan for recreational use of the lake, estimate costs of construction of the facilities, and project operational costs.

Project Manager Jimmy Parker, vice president of Precision Planning Inc. of Lawrenceville, suggested the Management Board should consider two possible sites for recreational facilities, built around boat ramps.

The first is off exiting Social Circle Fairplay Road near its intersection with Mt. Paron Church Road. The site is between the two main branches of the reservoir.

The second is off the relocated Social Circle Fairplay Road closer to and north of the dam site.
