Oconee County's Williams Raised More than $55,000 in Successful Race for House Seat

Chuck Williams, who last week won the runoff election for Georgia House District 113, proved to be a magnet for campaign funds.

Chuck Williams, who last week won the runoff election for the open seat in the Georgia House of Representatives, proved to be a magnet for campaign funds in the weeks following the June 21 special election.

He raised $41,046 during the four week between June 13, when he filed his first campaign finance statement, and July 15, when he filed his last statement.

That brought his total for the campaign to $61,334.

On a per month basis, that is considerably more than Hank Huckaby raised in his 2010 campaign or Bob Smith raised when he last had a Democratic opponent in 2006.

Williams received $23,850 from the campaign funds of other politicians.

People, companies and organizations from outside the four counties in the 113th House District Williams will serve contributed $36,550 to his campaign.

Based on the total funds raised, Williams spent $8.41 for each of the 3,149 crucial votes he received on July 19. His Democratic opponent, Dan Matthews, spent $1.48 for each of his 1,897 votes.
