Rotary Club of Oconee County Builds Handicap Ramp for Extra Special People

WATKINSVILLE, Ga., JUNE 4, 2013 — While many people relaxed or vacationed June 25th during Memorial Day Weekend, the Rotary Club of Oconee County was working hard to make a difference in the community.

Several rotarians built a handicap ramp at the office of Extra Special People facility in Watkinsville, Ga. The portable classroom, also known as the “ESP hangout,” donated by the Oconee County Board of Education, will allow ESP to serve ten more campers each week this summer.

The project consisted of steps at one door and a ramp at the other, and includes cement landings for both doors. The Crew Leaders were Joe Chafin, Bill Ross and Doug Weirauch.

Special thanks to crew member Chuck Williams, who is an ESP board member. The crew included Marion Butler, Courtney Gale, Mike Hunsinger, Jim Hubert, Steve Miller, Miller’s son Crawford, James Morris, Dan Sawyer, Frank Stancil, and Art Zimmerman.
