Oconee County Cycling Organization Donates Tricycles for Extra Special People, Inc.

On Saturday, May 11, 2013, hundreds of cyclists came out to the Tour DʼOconee. This year, the Oconee County Cycling Organization provided two adaptive tricycles for Extra Special People, Inc. (ESP) so they could participate in the exciting event.

With camp in full swing, these bikes can be utilized with daily sports and games activities. Both the small red tricycle and the large blue tricycle will allow any camper to have the experience of riding a bike. Riding a bike serves as a healthy tool for exercise, a resource for positive reinforcement, and another item that allows the ESP campers to say “I can.”

The Tour DʼOconee began at 9 AM in downtown Watkinsville. The primary course consisted of 62 miles with 2,850 ft. of climbs. Optional routes were 17, 25 and 35 miles long.
