Five Simple (and Inexpensive!) Halloween Costumes

Open your closet. What you need may be right there.

Halloween will soon be here! Limited with your time or money? Here are five creative costume ideas that you can make mostly with items you may already have or will just cost a few bucks to buy. These costumes are great for kids of all ages.

1.    Zombie – Rip up some old clothes, put on some gray face make up and paint dark circles under the eyes. Watch Michael Jackson’s Thriller video for inspiration.

2.    The guys from Duck Dynasty Camouflage? Check. Bandana? Check. A beard that would make the guys from ZZ Top jealous? Check… and done!

3.    An old school journalist – Wear a khaki trench coat with dress pants and shoes. Top with a fedora with a note card in the ribbon on the brim that says “Press.” Carry a reporter’s notebook or an old camera. Or, go as a Patch editor and wear yoga pants, carry an iPhone and clutch a coffee cup as though your life depends on it.

4.    Macklemore – Grab $20. Put it in your pocket. Then head to the thrift store to pop some tags to dress up like this popular rapper. Buy an oversized faux fur coat, some funky glasses or jewelry and use the rest to buy a slushie. And use the bag from the Goodwill your goods came in as another accessory.
