Walton EMC Employees Donate $4,415 to Extra Special People

Walton EMC employees recently donated the proceeds of $4,415 from the inaugural Bud Wiley Memorial Golf Tournament to Extra Special People (ESP) of Watkinsville.

Walton EMC employees recently made a trip to Watkinsville to present the proceeds of $4,415 from the inaugural Bud Wiley Memorial Golf Tournament to Extra Special People (ESP). ESP works with the developmentally disabled all over Northeast Georgia.

Wiley was a longtime director representing the Farmington district of the cooperative who recently passed away.

With the cooperative's annual fall charity tournament scheduled at Wiley's favorite course, Lane Creek, the idea came about to use it to honor Wiley's memory and his contributions to the customer-owners of Walton EMC.

"With no doubt in my mind, the best way to honor him is through something he loved," said tournament organizer Kathy Ivie. "It's fitting that we honor him through this tournament and give the proceeds to this charitable organization dear to his heart."

He was a fine man. I'm glad to see this. A nice way to remember him.
