Sandy Creek Nature Center Issues Call for Snake Photos

A photo contest will be held in celebration of Snake Day 2013, coming up on June 1.

In the Chinese zodiac, 2013 is the year of the snake. Sandy Creek Nature Center is celebrating with a photo contest leading up to its annual Snake Day.

The nature center is seeking photos submissions of snakes native to Clarke County or Georgia in their natural habitats — no photos of caged reptiles or snakes being held will be accepted.

Previously published photos are ineligible and all photos must be the work of the person submitting the entry. The deadline to enter a photo is May 30, and photos will be judged by nature center visitors during Snake Day on June 1. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in two categories — adult submissions by those 14 and older and children's submissions by those 13 and younger.

Entries should be e-mailed to m.cashsandycreek@gmail.com with "Snake Day Photo Contest" in the subject line. Submissions should be in JPG format and large enough to be printed as an 8 1/2 by 11 photo. Include the following information:
