On Saturday, October 26, 2013, Kharisma Salon’s stylist were not just cutting hair, they were changing lives.
Kharisma Salon hosted ‘Kuts for a Kause’ benefiting Extra Special People, Inc. (ESP) with all of the day’s proceeds going directly to ESP and their dream of moving into a fully-accessible facility! Jamie Lovett, a stylist at Kharisma, said choosing ESP as the fundraiser’s benefactor was easy.
“One of our stylists has a son with some mild disabilities and we have several families we serve that are involved with ESP’s programs," she said. "ESP was a natural fit for us.”
Lovett and Gina Elliot, a mother of an ESP participant, knew they wanted a way to give back to ESP, but more importantly, “We wanted to do something for the community to give."
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. all haircuts were by donation to ESP and it was all hands on deck as more than 200 people participated in the fundraiser. Kharisma Salon is a professional, yet family-friendly salon so the fundraiser served the family unit as a whole, not only through haircuts, but with free food, face painting, and door prizes donated by businesses in the community!
Overall the Kuts for a Kause raised over $1000 for ESP! Special thanks to Jamie Lovett, Gina Elliot, Krissy Angsten the stylists at Kharisma Salon and the Watkinsville community for helping coordinate such a successful fundraising event.
