Speak Up For A Child - CASA Volunteer Orientation

Every day in the United States, 1,900 children become victims of child abuse or neglect. Between foster homes and the court system, children often don't know what's going on in his or her case, or are not even aware of what is happening to them. Older children don't know where to turn. Small children don't have a way to communicate their needs. Often teenagers will "age out" of the system before he or she has ever found a permanent home. Nobody longs for a safe and loving family more than a child in foster care.

What's the solution? A CASA Volunteer. CASAs are trained advocates who work directly with each party involved in a child's life to ensure that his or her best interests are always the main focus. Ultimately, CASAs will investigate all potential options for a child's future and serve as the voice of that child in court. A child who has a CASA Volunteer has the best chance of a successful future.

To find out more about becoming a CASA and joining the I Am For the Child Movement, come to CASA Training Orientation on Thursday, May 15th at 10am or 6pm.   The Summer Training class will meet throughout the month of June.  This will be our first daytime training class, with sessions occurring on Wednesdays from 10am - 1:30pm. Visit www.childrenfirst-inc.org or contact Mary at 706-613-1922x1 for more information.
