Ashford Manor Concerts on the Lawn return for Project Safe Benefit

Ashford Manor Concerts on the Lawn are returning after a
hiatus with a benefit for Project Safe. On March 28th, Athens native
Randall Bramblett will perform along with two opening acts. Hair of the Dog, an
acapella group hailing from Atlanta, will open for Bramblett. R.J. Helton, the
fourth runner up to Kelly Clarkson on American Idol, will also perform. The
concert will be the final event hosted by Dancing with the Athens Stars Team 6:
Mario Castro and Julie Phillips. Local restaurant Chops & Hops will be
donating a portion of their proceeds for the evening to Project Safe. Concert
attendees are encouraged to dine there beforehand or order carry-out.

            Tickets are
$15 for adults and $5 for children. The gates will open at 5:30 with music
starting at 7:00. Ashford Manor is located at 5 Harden Hill Road. Guests should
provide their own seating with blankets or lawn chairs.

Dancing with the Athens Stars is
Project Safe’s largest fundraiser. Community leaders are paired with local
dancers with a variety of areas of expertise. Each pair forms a fundraising
team. 90 cents of every dollar goes directly to helping victims of domestic
abuse. The money raised during DWAS accounts for 10% of Project Safe’s yearly
budget. The pairs perform on March 30th at the Classic Center.

Randall Bramblett has been hailed
as one of the South’s most lyrical and literate songwriters (Rolling Stone). Randall
has a rich career dating back to the 70’s and is still thriving today – both as
a songwriter/bandleader and as a first-call sideman to the stars.  He landed on the speed dial of some of the
greatest names in rock history, including Steve Winwood (16 years), Levon Helm,
Warren Haynes, Delbert McClinton.  Recently
he’s been found playing with the Allman Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, and Widespread
Panic. Bramblett leads the MegaBlaster Horns, New Orleans JazzFest with Chuck
Leavell, and the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam.
