Townley Family Partnership Purchase of UGA Plant Sciences Farm Moves Forward

The University System of Georgia Board of Regents Tuesday approved the sale of the 522 acres in Oconee County, Ga. for $11.4 million.

University of Georgia scientists will continue their work at the in Oconee County until 2016, though the 522 acre-property on Snows Mill Road is changing hands.

According to an article in the Athens Banner-Herald, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents Tuesday approved the sale of the land to the Townley Family Partnership and the agreement allows UGA to use the land rent free until 2016 to complete projects.

Bids for the sale of the farm. UGA officials have said they plan to invest the money in other farms.
