Fire at Captain D's in Monroe Sunday Ruled Accidental- Monroe Patch

An early morning fire at Captain D's in Monroe Sunday left little of the building standing, Monroe Fire Department officials said. Nobody was in the building at the time of the fire. The restaurant had already closed up for the night.

"The fire has been deemed accidental/probable electrical in nature," said Monroe Fire Department spokesman Lt. William Owens. "The fire started in the office area of the restaurant where it spread into the attic and roof."

Accused Child Murderer Brought Back to Lawrenceville from Mexico - Lawrenceville Patch

Accused child murderer Christian Vasquez is now in custody at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

According to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office's website, Vasquez was booked into the jail Thursday at 9:21pm.

Vasquez was arrested July 2012 in Puebla, Mexico following a joint investigation by Mexican authorities, The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office, The Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Department of Justice.

DragonCon Founder Back in Gwinnett Jail – Snellville Patch

Dragoncon founder Edward Kramer, 50, is in the Gwinnett County jail as of 4 p.m., Saturday, following his extradition from Connecticut to face charges of aggravated child molestation. 

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Kramer was first arrested in Gwinnett County on Aug. 25, 2000, and accused of sexually abusing three teen boys during a sleepover at his house.

However, he was thought to be physically incapable of standing trial because of severe spinal and respiratory problems. Gwinnett District Attorney Danny Porter believes that's all a ruse, however.Visit Snellville Patch for more on this story.
