Regional Roundup: Hot Body Rub Arrests, Stolen Church Bell Recovered, and New Georgia Tech Cops

Two women were arrested Jan. 30 as a result of an undercover sting targeting prostitution conducted by the .

Chief Tommy Culpepper said officers at 4 p.m. executed a search warrant at Asian Hot Body Rub in Suite A of 1145 North Tennessee Street. In its Backpage ad, Asian Hot Body Rub cites new management and offers various types of massages, table showers and a dry sauna; an "all beautiful Asian staff;" and "new girls every week."

Police say Alexander Jog Kim was arrested and charged with prostitution, while Son Cha Platt was taken to jail accused of being a party to the crime of prostitution. They may face additional charges as , authorities said.

Members of received welcome news Monday. Less than a , the bell has been recovered.

Monday afternoon, trustee and deacon Wayne Stancel got a call from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

"They said they thought they had our bell," Stancel said. The deputy asked for a description of the stolen item. According to Stancel, once he described it, the deputy said, "I've got your bell."

Forty minutes later, the deputy delivered the bell to Stancel.

The theft remains under investigation.

Five new officers will join the Georgia Tech Police Department, according to a Monday announcement from the institute.

The new additions will bring the total number of officers to 81.

"With the new hires, we will be able to staff a plain clothes unit assigned to daily hot spots," Georgia Tech Police Chief Teresa Crocker said in the announcement. "The expansion of the crime prevention unit will help us better address the demands of the campus community."

Two of the new officers will be assigned to crime prevention. The other three officers will be assigned to patrol -- including one officer who will work in partnership with the Atlanta Police Department in patrolling the northern border of Georgia Tech's campus, as well as the Home Park and Atlantic Station neighborhoods.
