Regional Roundup: Fox Attack, Bandana-Wearing Robbers and Thwarted Home Invasion

A possibly rabid fox in north Forsyth County has attacked a man and bitten two dogs, authorities reported Thursday.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is warning residents to be on the lookout for the fox in and near the Hampton subdivision, located off GA 400 as it remains on the loose.

The incident happened on Tuesday morning while the man, a grounds maintenance worker, was working on the golf course.

A local resident and Krystal employee said he was robbed at gunpoint under the bridge in downtown Cartersville by men wearing red bandanas.

Cartersville police got the call about 10:35 p.m. Wednesday. The victim, 22, was walking home from work and noticed a group following him on Gilmer Street at the Church Street bridge overpass.

One of the men put a gun to the back of the victim's head and said, "Empty your pockets," according to the incident report. The victim, who got off work at 10 p.m., said he put his hands up.

According to police reports, on Thursday morning a 12-year-old boy stopped an home invasion by hiding in the attic and calling 911 as it happened.  Because of the young man's call, police arrived on the scene at the 700 block of Catherine Street, while the robbery was still in progress.

Three individuals ran from the house as police arrived at the location, two of the suspects got away while one was captured along with a female "getaway" driver.  In addition, officers found an AR-15 assault rifle containing 28 rounds and a Beretta 40-caliber handgun containing 13 rounds.

UPDATE: Police Charge Suspect With Felony Murder After Victim Dies – Alpharetta Patch

Police have upgraded charges to felony murder against a 26-year-old Alpharetta man after a victim of apparent domestic violence died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The suspect had been charged with aggravated battery after Sanaa Merani was taken to the hospital for injuries she suffered in the incident. She died in North Fulton Hospital from those injuries, leading Alpharetta police to charge Alamin Nanji with felony murder for allegedly shooting the victim.
