A day care van on S. Hairston near Wesley Chapel caught fire Wednesday afternoon. No children were on board the van, according to WSB.

The name of the day care, listed on the side of the van, is "It Takes a Village Learning Academy" in Stone Mountain.

Five Men Arrested in Connection With Tuesday's Shooting in Monroe - Monroe Patch

Walton County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Keith Brooks confirmed that five men are in custody in connection with Tuesday's shooting in Monroe.

Brooks said that early investigations reveal that the victim, , was lured to the location on Mountain Creek Church Road in Monroe on the pretext of a drug deal. Hickman, however, owed one of the subjects money.

Middle School Teacher Charged With Intent to Distribute Methadone -Barrow Patch

A Winder-Barrow Middle School teacher who was arrested Wednesday is no longer employed by the school system, Superintendent Wanda Creel said in an e-mail Thursday afternoon. 

The e-mail stated the teacher is charged with distribution/solicitation with an electronic device, reckless conduct and criminal intent to distribute methadone. According to the e-mail, an ethics complaint is being filed with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Firefighter Dies After Collapsing at Scene of Auto Accident - Marietta Patch

Marietta Fire Engineer Lonnie Nutt "succumbed to a medical issue he experienced after collapsing during a call" while providing aide to an injured motorist, according to a statement released by the Marietta Fire Department Thursday evening.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 7, the Marietta Fire Department responded to an automobile accident with a report of injuries on Whitlock Avenue.

Customers Swarm Bakery After 'Cupcake Wars' Appearance - Buckhead Patch

The phone was ringing off the hook and the line at Cloud 9 Cupcakes at Lenox Square never seemed to die down on Tuesday.

The popular sweet spot's uptick in customers could be attributed to its Sunday stint on "Cupcake Wars."

Mike Pettenato compared his appearance on “Cupcake Wars” to “The Hunger Games,” but it was still a dream come true, he said.
